Hopefully, my long dry spell is almost over. I simply haven't had time to do some of the things I love - like create. The desire… the NEED… is always there, though - gnawing away in the back of my mind. MUST… FIND… TIME!
In what little spare time I've managed to salvage between a demanding job and my two lovely little ones, I have been researching like a madwoman. I am a chronic researcher; I just can't help it. When I'm interested in something, I just have to absorb everything I can about it and learn, learn, learn as fast as possible. I have no patience. I want to know NOW!
My latest obsession is printmaking. I have a tiny bit of history with it from years past, and a great admiration for the craft and those who pursue it. So I've tinkered, I've RESEARCHED, and I've added to my ever-growing and ridiculously underused arsenal of art supplies… and I'm raring to go.
Specifically, I am focusing on relief/block printing, monotypes and collagraphs. I have a few things in the works and can't wait to really dive in.
I have completed a few small things over the past few months and need to add to the art gallery. It's on the to-do list.
I also need to baby my Squidoo lenses a bit and work on a couple of other web projects.
Okay, now I'm just babbling. Just wanted you to know that I am still kicking.

I want to let you know about a cool non-profit that is doing great things: Kiva.org
Kiva.org allows individuals to make $25 loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world (microfinance). By doing so, individuals like you provide affordable working capital for the poor (money to buy a sewing machine, livestock, etc.), empowering them to earn their way out of poverty.
It's a new, direct and sustainable way to fight global poverty.

In my usual wackiness, I forgot to post here that I had some new art that was for sale on eBay, and as you see below, did a quickie post as the auctions were coming to a close. Like anyone would see that in time. My bad, my bad. The auctions went well though, and I sold 4 out of 6 pieces. One of those pieces, the little nicho pictured below, had quite a following - which surprised and flattered me. I have a second one about halfway done and will probably be listing it later this week.
The coolest thing about the first nicho that sold is… a very nice lady who bid but didn't win the auction sent me a commission request for one! I don't normally do commissions - for many reasons, but mostly because I'm slow and work sporatically - and because I have kinda always figured I wasn't good enough to do commissions anyway. But I agreed and am excited that 1) someone liked my work well enough to commission something, and 2) I am confident enough to see it through.
Now, if someone writes me and wants a photo-realistic oil painting of a horse or something… fahgettaboutit!
Anyway, I am squeezing in some creative time between managing kids and life and job-hunting and everything else, and I'm happy that I've actually had a few things to show for it lately. I love to be productive! It just doesn't happen enough.
I'm also getting back into printmaking a little. In fact, I recruited the hubby into a little linocutting over the weekend. I just had this feeling it was something he'd be good at, and I was right: his prints turned out better than mine! He says he "can't draw" and "isn't an artist" and what-not, but I know better. Now he wants to dive into more block printing and do some "fancy" stuff. Of course I'll encourage it! Maybe he'll let me showcase his work here too. We have another artsy project planned, but it will take some time collecting some objects we need to get started, so I'll sit on that subject for now.
Check back in a few days for new art and auctions.

Um, I forgot to post a notice, in my own blog no less, that I have several new pieces up for sale on eBay, including the assemblage nicho pictured.
Auctions are ending today!
