A horse with no name

This horse with (as of yet) no name has not been through the desert, but she did put me through the wringer.

My first equestrian subject was created with mixed media (mostly alcohol inks, plus Sakura Permapaque and Sigma Micron pens) on 11″ x 14″ Yupo and will be submitted for an upcoming, western-themed juried show. Wish me luck.

UPDATE: I just had the painting scanned, and the new digital image is SO much better than the one I originally posted, so I’m replacing it! :) I also named her “Puuku“, which is Comanche for “horse”. But I shan’t rename this blog post or change its text contents, because then you would be without me showing my age with that old song reference.

  1. Monica, this is an amazing piece of alcohol ink art! I really Love the color choices and your style! Best of luck in the show! Let us know how it goes.

    • Thank you, Laurie! The show I painted this for was postponed to a much later date. I may hang onto this one for a while. I rarely hang anything of my own at home. But maybe he would be happy hanging around until said show comes around in the fall/winter. 😉

      • Oh. Too bad! It’s definitely a keeper!

  2. Monica you never cease to amaze me. This painting is pure magic! The jurors will certainly see your talent… not a doubt.

    • Thank you so much, Diane! The show was postponed to a much later date. If this guy is still around, I may try again. :)

  3. I absolutely love this. Since you had it scanned, does that mean you will be selling prints?

Good luck on your show and all of your exhibits!!

    • Thanks girl! :) I’ll shoot you an email!
