Bio
I have been creating in some form or another for as long as I can remember. I am a self-taught, self-representing artist, a purveyor and collector of pop culture paraphernalia, a wife and mother of two.
I am inspired by the work of many artists old and new, but mostly I’m inspired by love, loss and life.
My Art
I tend to work with bold colors and clean lines. My style is pretty defined (though I do so admire the work of others who are masters at a more “painterly” technique.) I suspect this is an occupational side effect of graphic design, or maybe even from “staying within the lines” as a child.
My work hangs in homes and businesses across the US, UK, Canada and Mexico. I’m a member of several art groups, including EBSQ and ACEO.
Skulls, Skeletons and Death
Who do I paint skulls and skeletons? Well, I like ‘em. Isn’t that reason enough?
I assure you, it has nothing to do with the devil, the occult or any weird obsession with death. I simply think that it’s pretty awesome that we each have such a cool frame under all the skin, muscle, fat and tissue. Basically, if you tear away all the layers, we are all a bag of bones under there!
I also have a love of Mexican folk art, and much of that revolves around El Dia de los Muertos. I appreciate the way the dead are celebrated, not just mourned, in the Mexican culture; death can be laughed at and portrayed with a bit of whimsy. We Amercians could learn a thing or two from this. Death is just a part of life. We move on.
But alas before death, there is life. All of us who are alive need our bones, ya know. We’d look pretty strange without them.
Sales & Commissions
Because my time is limited (demanding job, two small children, yadda yadda) I work sporadically and am generally unable to take commissions. However, occasionally I can take on a custom small piece or two, so if you’re interested drop me a line through the contact page, and I’ll see what I can do.
At this time, I do not commission large paintings or other large format works.
I sell most of my work online.
