Pet Portraits

CUSTOM PET PORTRAITS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. Unfortunately, I cannot accept any new pet portrait commissions until further notice.

Standard Sizes and pricing:
•  11” x 14” (matted to 16” x 20”) – $375
•  8” x 10” (matted to 11” x 14”) – $200

Prices are for ONE pet per painting. Multiple subjects affect pricing.

I also offer discounts for multiple paintings ordered at the same time.

My paintings on Yupo MUST be matted and framed. By sticking to “standard” sizes, this makes it much easier and less expensive for you to select and purchase the frame of your choice.

Of course, if you prefer a different size, I am happy to oblige. I can paint in any size/format up to 20” x 26”. Please keep in mind that anything that’s not a “standard” size will likely require a custom mat (which I CAN provide for an additional charge), and a custom frame (which you would be responsible for yourself.)

Another option is to paint on cradled wooden boards. These are similar to thick canvases in that they do NOT require framing. I don’t have standard sizes for these but if you are interested, I can research what sizes are available to me and give you a price list on those.

Requirements & Other Stuff

I paint using photographs as reference, and I will need a good quality photograph of your pet to work from. The bigger and/or clearer the better. If you have several (or a lot! lol) feel free to send them my way, and I can take a look and let you know which of the photo(s) (or combination thereof) would work best for the style and type of paintings that I do. Contact me if you’re interested in a custom portrait, and I’ll provide my email address for you to send photos to.

I require a 50% deposit on all custom orders. Work does not begin until the deposit is paid.

Faces or faces/shoulders/busts work best. I generally do not do full body paintings, though I may make an exception if I feel like I can pull it off. 🙂

DISCLAIMER: I am not a realism painter. Representational, yes! And of course, I will do my best to capture your pet’s image and character (one of the reasons faces are best!)…but because of the media I use, my paintings have a rather stylized look. Your painting will not look like a photograph. It will look like a painting that’s a bit more modern, perhaps pop, and maybe even odd, compared to realistic oil and acrylic portraits. See examples below.

I cannot guarantee color matches, but if there are specific colors you’d like incorporated into your painting, feel free to let me know. The inks (and sometimes watercolors) that I paint with are very vibrant! If you want more subdued colors, I can make that happen.

Turnaround Time, Payment & Shipping

My schedule may vary greatly, but I intend to try and get all commissioned work done within 2-4 weeks. I will always give you an expected turnaround time at the time you place an order, based on my current workload (of course I’m happy to update current turnaround as a pre-sale question as well.)

I accept credit and debit card payments via PayPal. I do not accept checks but will accept money orders.

Your balance is due when your painting is complete. I will send you photos of your completed painting for you to review prior to paying the balance.

REVISIONS: MINOR tweaks are done at no charge. More involved revisions will require an additional charge and time. I want to make sure you are happy with your portrait, but I ask that you understand there are limitations in my style and process of painting. As noted above, true realism isn’t an option, and neither is perfection. Isn’t perfection boring anyway? 😉

Prices do not include shipping. I will provide the shipping cost when it is time for the balance of your order to be paid. All shipments are insured for the total cost of your painting and sent via US Mail 1st Class or Priority Mail. If you prefer me to use another carrier, please specify.
