  1. Love your work, Monica! At one time, I use to use watercolor on Yupo. It’s a fascinating surface.

  2. Thank you so much, Sue! I am a fan of your work as well. 🙂 I have never really ventured into watercolors. I have all the supplies, but they’re just collecting dust. I should pull them out and give them a try some day.

  3. I’ve been using watercolors on YUPO and love the abstract effects. However, I just found about alcohol inks on YUPO and the combination blew my mind. My questions is; can I use watercolor paint brushes with alcohol inks on YUPO, or do I need to buy alternative tools?

    • I use a variety of brushes with inks on Yupo, including watercolor brushes. Also q-tips, sponges, felt, etc. But yes, watercolor brushes should be okay.

  4. Monica,
I’ve been been having fun with the alcohol inks for a couple of months now and have found the tutorials very helpful, but I haven’t found any that shows how to make the beautiful flowers etc, do you have any suggestions?

  5. I love your work. I just found your website by accident and I feel so lucky. I used to be an advide artist but because of my husband being so ill ( 3 brain anyueristms, a heart attack, two strokes, and believe it or not he is doing quite well. So needless to say I have been busy but now it’s like learning all over again.
I saw your post and the work you do it so breathtaking. Can you suggest wear I could learn? I want make pictures of the four seasons to put behind the couch. Even if you can’t help, I sincerely grateful for you sharing.

    • Hi Joanne. I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s health issues but very glad to know he is doing well! To be honest, I am not using alcohol inks as much anymore in my work, though I do still like the medium and suspect it may show up again sometime. 🙂 I would check out and also search for alcohol ink art groups on Facebook and tutorials on YouTube. There’s a wealth of info out there now, compared to when I began painting with them 6 or 7 years ago. Best of luck to you!
